Hey there, so proud of all of you and what you are doing. Many prayers are going out for you family and the whole team. I will keep tabs on you each day. I know you will feel God’s presence each and everyday. Love you all, you are a blessing.

  5. The Dauber family is having a totally fun Spirit-filled adventure! Last night’s singing and devotion was incredible! I woke up at 5:15 to try and catch the sunrise, but it was overcast. It was still incredible to be reading God’s Word from this place. The mountains are gorgeous. You can feel God’s presence all over this place and this experience. Today we put up the frame for our 10 x 12 house, put up drywall and mudded it! I really enjoyed taking part of this process with my team: Ben Wiers, Anna Ritsema, Nicole (Colley!) – a 7th grader, Austin (going into college) and Scott (the Spanish teacher at Unity). The woman (and baby girl) we are building for watched us from the sidelines. It was fun to smile with her and give her hugs. We prayed with her before we started. Tomorrow is STUCCO day. I’m sure I will get dirty, learn something new and feel the power of God even more. I had my first hot shower today, and I feel like a million bucks πŸ™‚

Deb and Amy: Ross and Matt are doing great – totally at ease! Sandy, your daughter is amazing πŸ™‚ Aunt Linda, I love you!

So happy to hear about your experience on your first day. I think I thought of all of you each and every hour today and wondered what you would be doing. Take it all in Jeannie, this is a wonderful experience for all of you. Wish I could do something like this but with my health I don’t think it possible. Pick up on all the gentle reminders of the Holy Spirit being with you. So so hot here at home, hope you can stay cool. Love and prayers.

Day 2 – Our HW from yesterday- If Jesus was standing directly in front of you, what would you ask him for? We focused on the dining room devotion – what are you planning to prepare and serve to our God? Where do you spend your time and energy? GOOD STUFF! Today was stucco day, and our prayers were answered, b/c the rain held off for it to dry. I got to play a patty-cake type game with some teenage girls, which was a lot of fun. I’ve been using a little Spanish, and they have been good at re-teaching me, when I mess up. The kids and families are beautiful creatures of God. I wish I could take them all home with me, or shower them with gifts and love every day. I will never forget the word – “dulce,” which means candy. You would think you were giving them a million bucks. Constant reminders of the many things that we take for granted…. Saying goodbye to this amazing village is going to be an emotional challenge tomorrow. They have won over all our hearts. Please pray for an awesome benediction ceremony, filled with God’s presence. My He have the glory that He is due. Let us be a candle of the love of Christ in La Reina!

  13. Austin says:

Thanks again for all the prayers. WE FEEL THEM. Keep them coming πŸ™‚

    Hi Jeannie!
Well – the journey is all that I knew it would be so far for you! I just think it is soooo awesome that you can do it as a family – what rich blessings!! How I miss being there. I will return one day. God has been good in answering all the prayers and he will continue to. It is just an experience that is so hard to describe isn’t it! One that creates changes in life forever – unforgettable, and just think – your WHOLE FAMILY is experiencing it. More blessings to come so hang on for the ride – its a great one!!
    Love,
    Roxanne

No words can describe today. I have never prayed more feveriously for so long in all my life. Everything we asked our holy Father for was delivered. ALL FIVE families commited their lives to Christ. God can move mountains and transform hearts. He is doing this within our team, within the Guatemalan people AND in La Reina. It was an amazing thing to be a part of. HOLY GROUND. Lots of tears as we said our goodbyes. We had an awesome pinata celebration which was muy divertido (very fun). This has been an incredible experience for my entire family. The Dauber family has never been part of something so powerful. Thank you all for the many prayers. We have felt every one and they have all been answered. I can’t wait to see what God will show us tomorrow at the medical clinic πŸ™‚

  18. Cherrie Bitcheno says:

    Jeanie Dear,
What a joy it is to read about your experiences in Guatemala. You’re doing a great job articulating experiences for which words are hard to find. I am praying for you and your family regularly-for physical strength, safety, health, and protection. The differences between our lifestyle and the Guatemalans are so blatant but the similarities (though much more subtle) are strikingly significant. Both of our cultures need a Savior as much as the other. We both long to be loved and feel the security of family around us. We seek to find joy in the everyday things in life and enjoy a sense of community with others. Our common need for personal relationships is probably the biggest similarity, especially when it comes to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May your solid faith and foundation in Him ignite the very same in those around you-Guatemalan or American!
Looking forward to hearing more about your experiences!
    Loving Thoughts,
    Cherrie

…and oh my goodness, you are working with Nicole, and her dad is a long-time friend of mine!! Actually, I was at Deb and Bruce’s wedding, and Bruce’s mom and my mom are like sisters!! I haven’t seen Deb or Bruce in a loooong time, but I LOVE the fact that you are working with their daughter. They are wonderful people!! I will tell “Aunt Dorothy” (Nicole’s grandma) of the coincidence at church on Sunday. WOW, WHAT A SMALL WORLD!!!

  21. Aunt Linda says:

Wow Jeannie hearing all of what you have experienced is so very exciting, I am so happy you all were able to have this experience, it couldn’t have happened to a better family. I am so proud of all of you. Would you believe I can even feel the Spirit here just by reading your entries, this is so exciting. Can’t wait to hear all about it and see pictures. God’s blessings to you all and the team.
    Love you
